God of all creation, help us to care for the animals
that enrich our lives and to share your Good News with all the cosmos. Amen.

that time Jesus said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because
you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have
revealed them to infants; 26yes, Father, for such was your gracious
will. 27All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no
one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son
and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. 28“Come to me, all
you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29Take
my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and
you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my
burden is light.”

Prayers of Intercession
The Canticle of the Sun
is a prayer/ hymn attributed to St. Francis of Assisi.
It identifies the elements of creation as sisters and brothers to humanity, and
calls upon the forces of nature to praise God with us, and us with them.
Assisting Minister: Most high, all powerful, all good God! All praise is
yours, all glory, all honor, and all blessing. And, it is to you alone, Most
High, that we pray.
You are praised, O God by
our Brother, Sun, who brings the day; and you give light through him. May light
be shed on your Church, That your faithful people may bear your likeness. O
God, hear us.
You are praised, O God,
through our Sister, Moon, and the stars; in the heavens you have made them
bright, precious and beautiful. May the nations of the earth, whom they look
down upon each night. Be blessed with your peace. O God, hear us.
You are praised, O God,
through our Brothers, Wind and Air, and clouds and storms, and all the weather;
May you rain down your grace upon our nation, and it’s leaders and people. O

that we should at all times and in all places give thanks and praise . . . we

P On the night in which he was betrayed, our
Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples,

remembrance of me.

the Animals
You who created them and
called them good: bless again these creatures who come to us as a blessing fashioned
of fur or feather or fin, formed of flesh that breathes with your own breath,
that you have made from sheer delight, that you have given in dazzling variety.
Bless them who curl
themselves around our hearts who twine themselves through our days who
companion us in our labor who call us to come and play.
Bless them who will never be
entirely tamed and so remind us that you love what is wild, that you rejoice in
what lives close to the earth, that your heart beats in the heart of these
creatures you have entrusted to our care.

seniors) by Welcome at St. Francis Lutheran Church.
